Eventually, it was going to happen. The wrinkles, that is. And the uneven skin tone and color changes – the red, brown, and darker olive splotches creeping into our complexion. It happens slowly, until one day you look at a photo and just can’t believe it’s you. In the end, there’s no denying it: You’re getting older. And that’s okay. But you still want to look your best, and no matter how healthy you eat, how much you exercise, and how well you sleep, you are still going to age. Can you turn back the clock, or at least make it look like you did?
Thankfully, there are several solutions for restoring the smoother, more youthful look to our faces. At Spy & Sea Spa, we offer three options: Botox, Juvederm, or laser remedies.
- Botox. Used mostly for wrinkles around the eyes and forehead, Botox is a substance injected into wrinkles that relaxes the muscles, disallowing the wrinkles to form. In doing so, Botox not only blocks current wrinkles, it prevents others from forming. This is a low risk, effective procedure which takes only a few minutes. However, it needs replenishing every 3-4 months.
- Juvederm. Especially used around the mouth, this is a gel injection that allows our skin to retain its elasticity by restoring volume to facial tissue. In order to diminish bruising and swelling after the procedure, it is recommended to avoid Aspirin or NSAID’s (Motrin, Ibuprofen, etc.). It’s a very low-risk, effective procedure which lasts up to one year.
- Laser Treatments. Laser Genesis and Laser Limelight procedures are used for longer-term facial skin changes. Laser Genesis works using laser heat that regenerates collagen in the skin and even feels relaxingly therapeutic. Results – at first subtle – become more prominent after a few treatments. The effect is long term, with boosters recommended every 6-12 months.
- Laser Limelight: For Pigmentation, Redness, and Sun Damage. Sometimes called photo-rejuvenation, laser limelight uses light pulses to heat top-layer skin pigments, promoting a more even skin tone. The pulses feel a bit like a short sting, and result in scars which fall off within a couple of weeks. This is the most long-lasting treatment, necessitating maintenance visits only once annually.
Sometimes facial aging treatments are seen as a luxury on the one hand, and artificial on the other. But they are neither. These days, we have the technology to help us be more convenient – why not access technology which can help us feel more confident within our very smiles?
